Eastern Oregon University’s Navigators Club Presents the 35th Annual Island Magic Lu’au and Show

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Navigators Club at Eastern Oregon University is proud to announce the return of its signature cultural event: the 35th Annual Island Magic Lu’au and Show, taking place Saturday, May 24, 2025. After a heartwarming comeback last year, this beloved tradition returns to celebrate Pacific Island heritage, community, and connection through food, music, and dance.
This year’s theme, “We are the Navigators; the Ocean is our Pathway to Each Other and the World,” draws inspiration from the renowned essay Our Sea of Islands by Epeli Hau‘ofa. It reminds us of the ocean’s power to unite rather than divide, highlighting a shared legacy of voyaging, cultural exchange, and deep-rooted ties across generations and islands.
Guests can expect a vibrant evening of traditional and contemporary performances that showcase the diversity and resilience of Pacific Island cultures. A delicious local-style dinner will accompany the festivities, featuring culturally inspired dishes from across the Pacific.
